The idea of “open air” hospitals during the Spanish Flu combined with fresh air, sunlight and scrupulous standards of hygiene that could substantially reduce deaths among the infected during the Spanish flu pandemic.  This and other measures adopted during the 1918 pandemic deserve consideration in this time of the new Covid-19 pandemic.  Chiropractic was one of those natural methods that proved to be an effective treatment for this very deadly and fast-acting virus.

Since the Coronavirus became headline news everyone and their mother have put out all kinds of natural remedies and suggestions on how to prevent or treat a Covid-19 infection.  My opinion (and this is only my educated opinion) is that high doses of vitamin C, curcumin and turmeric are the safest, most natural way to fight this infection.  Given the predictions of exposure to the Covid-19 virus, our best chance is to give our bodies all the weapons at its disposal to battle back the symptoms and increase our chances of survival.

So, how can chiropractic help our immune system work better?  The nervous system, the endocrine system and the immune system are linked together like a three-legged stool.  If one leg breaks, the stool doesn’t function.

The goal of chiropractic care is to remove interference in the nervous system and promote proper function of the other systems.  The nervous system controls the functions of the entire body and restoring motion to the spine reduces stress on the nervous system, allowing it to better communicate with the rest of the body.  The better our nervous system can function and communicate, the better our immune and endocrine systems can function and communicate.
